Jan 17th – Alpha Update 3 and “Record This”

By | 17th January 2017

Hey update time again. So a quiet couple of days as i’ve been fixing bugs and adding new features to the alpha. Today’s update 3 featured a rewrite of the Airport Database, there have been some reported issues with performance, but the overall experience should be better. This rewrite includes the addition of the STAR system allowing you to fly a full STAR down to the ground.

The connection dialog has had some love and the button on the menu bar now features a quick connect feature. There have also been some changes in the way it connects to sims.

The charts viewer has received a couple of fixes and now should work better. Currently only UK charts are available.

The aircraft selector added in update 2 to the approach system will be getting its editor within the next couple of updates to allow you to add your own aircraft with custom defaults for approaches.

“Record This” is a new feature I didn’t want including in the roadmap as I wasn’t sure on the complexity of adding it at the time.¬†Essentially this will allow you to get a report for any landing you do. So not just approaches started from SimToolkitPro. Select the airport and runway at any time and hit the “Record This” button. A landing report will be generated automatically when your speed reduces below 10kts.

Tutorials will follow when the UI changes settle down to save having to rerecord footage when something gets overhauled or there are significant improvements and changes made.

That about covers the updates over the past couple of days. Stay tuned for more updates!
