Setup and Configuration
This page will focus on getting setup and configuring simulators for use with SimToolkitPro.
Once you have downloaded the installer file fromthe SimToolkitPro website you will need to run it. There is a likelihood it will prompt a SmartScreen pop up on later windows versions. To proceed with the installation. Click "More info" then "Run anyway". Hopefully this will be resolved should we manage to get the required authenticode signing certificates, which are prohibitively expensive for a free software product.
The installer will download the latest version of SimToolkitPro every time the launcher is run to make sure you are using the most up-to-date version.
Upon starting SimToolkitPro for the first time, it will attempt to configure any simulators it can automatically. (Currently only P3Dv3, P3Dv4, X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 11 can be auto configured)For X-Plane 10 and 11 there will also be a prompt to install the SimToolkitConnect plugin which is required for SimToolkitPro to be able to communicate with the simulator.
Once autoconfiguration is complete you will be shown the connect/welcome screen.
The connection window will show the latest articles from the SimToolkitPro website, and on the right the connection panel.
Each connection button is accompanied by a connection indicator.
No simulator path set
Simulator path is set, but no simulator detected as running
Simulator path is set and detected as a running process
The run as server checkbox will start SimToolkitPro in network server mode when you select a simulator to connect to. You can select the network address to bind the server to, this will be the internal IP address you will connect to from the second instance of SimToolkitPro on your networked machine
If you are wanting to connect to a remote server instance of SimToolkitPro you can use the remote connection button. Enter the IP address of the machine running in server mode and click the Remote connection button.
SimToolkitPro needs to know where your installed simulators are, you can configure this in the settings page.
For each installed simulator select the relevant tab and find the install directory for each one (if it hasn't been auto detected).
The General settings tab is where you will find most of the configuration options for SimToolkitPro.
Enable Text to Speech will enable SimToolkitPro to talk to you audibly about connection status. This system will be expanded over coming updates.
Disable report grading will remove the lettered grading and comments from landing reports leaving just the raw data.
Windows 8.1 currently has an issue rendering the toolbar as a side bar so this option will allow it to be moved to the top of the screen. See the page Known Issues for more details
